What is PHP GTK -Client Apps in PHP

PHP GTK is an API from PHP community to develop desktop based applications. This is a et of language bindings for PHP which allow GTK+ GUI applications to be written in PHP. PHP-GTK provides an object-oriented interface to GTK+ classes and functions.

PHP is well known for web development but since 2001 PHP community is working rapidly to bring this for GUI based applications or client applications. The latest version is PHP-GTK 2 that fully utilizes PHP 5's powerful object model support.

PHP community define this language officially by following definition-

"PHP-GTK is an extension for the PHP programming language that implements language bindings for GTK+. It provides an object-oriented interface to GTK+ classes and functions and greatly simplifies writing client-side cross-platform GUI applications."
